Built in 1878 Blackthorn Village Hall has served the community well for many generations.
It started life as the village school educating local children through to the late 1950s. After
this it has become a focal point in the village for social functions and a meeting place for
the Parish council and the Social committee.
I’m sure many of you reading this have attended the annual barbeque or quiz night at the
hall and have experienced firsthand what a valuable resource this is for the community.
Sadly the village hall is now in need of major remedial works; including new windows,
flooring, ceiling, electrics and internal walls. We would also like to take the opportunity to
update the internal fixtures and fittings installing a new kitchen, communal bathroom and
some much needed storage. This will ensure that the hall will survive for future
generations.
We managed against all odds and a few obstacles along the way, to build a
recreational park for children and adults of Blackthorn to be proud of. We are so fortunate
in Blackthorn to have a strong community spirit and we need to pull together again to
breathe life back into our village hall
